VTT – beyond the obvious.
We are now looking for researchers for MEMS component development to be responsible for the development of MEMS-based Fabry-Perot Interferometer (FPI) technology and piezo-actuated tunable filters as part of our experienced team. Application fields for the technology vary from biosensing (e.g. skin cancer detection) to hyperspectral cameras operated in space (e.g. asteroid mining), and the wavelength ranges from UV to LWIR. Depending on your profile and experience, you will have a role in designing the FPI devices, in process development and/or manufacturing.
The work utilizes Micronova clean room in Otaniemi, the largest micro- and nanofabrication facility in the Northern Europe.
To succeed in the role, you have experience in silicon microfabrication process development and/or understanding of the complete process chain for mems devices. We value experience in surface-micromachined component design, and experience with broad range of cleanroom micro-fabrication tools.
Experience of project management / preparation is not mandatory, but can be an asset.
You should have a PhD or MSc degree in physics, chemistry or electrical engineering (or related field). We are looking for persons who have dedication and interest in long term development of the technology.
As a person you are a team player with true ambition and passion for technology and research work. You take initiatives and responsibilities and have good interaction skills. You are able to combine theory with practise in a solution-oriented manner. You have good cooperation and networking skills and fluent written and oral communication in English.
We offer you a creative and international working environment with highly trained colleagues and state-of-the-art research infrastructures. At VTT you can also have flexible working hours, good personal development prospects and the benefits of a large employer. With us, you will be building bridges from basic and applied research to the commercial exploitation.
The position is based in Espoo, Finland. You will be in the Microelectronics research area and you will have the occasion to interact in-house with other disciplines, from silicon to cloud and more.
